WATER-CUTTING

Purity and ecology are concepts that we associate with water and natural forces. When choosing the best solution for your business, you don't have to stop caring about the environment. Quite the opposite – the best cutting method should also be dictated by the good of the world around us. At Elplast, we also care about the environment by using the latest technologies. Why is water-cutting the most ecological and the best solution?

ECO-CUT

Waterjet technology (i.e. cutting with water with the addition of garnet) is a method that uses the full potential that Mother Nature gives us. The condensed stream of water, at a pressure of up to 4,000 bars, plays the role of a precision blade. By using this natural power source, no harmful fumes or dust are emitted during cutting. This distinguishes the waterjet method from other laser or plasma cutting methods. Despite the high power of the device, water consumption is low and usually does not exceed four litres per minute.

THE ECOLOGICAL POWER OF SAND

In the waterjet cutting process, apart from the power of the condensed water jet,  garnet is also used. It is a natural type of abrasive that enhances the effectiveness of the method. In the cutting process, the dry garnet is drawn into the water and mixed with it in a long tube from which it goes out at a speed of over 300 metres per second! Just like the proverbial drop that graves the rock using the waterjet technique, we are able to cut practically every material.

HARMLESS TO THE ENVIRONMENT

The only substances used in the cutting process are water and garnet sand. The used abrasive and pieces of cut material end up at the bottom of the ‘bath’ with water. The low cutting temperature means that all substances do not change their properties so are completely safe for the environment. The water-cutting machine itself does not consume a lot of oil, which makes it environmentally-friendly equipment.

ECOLOGICAL WATERJET- THE BASIC CUTTING METHOD USED AT ELPLAST

Technological development in the 21st century has contributed to the introduction of an increasing number of ecological solutions (even in the industrial sector). Waterjet technology is excellent proof that there are ways to reconcile what we do with environmental protection and the growing requirements of our customers.
