SANDBLASTING

The basis for the longevity of each equipment is regular care. It is natural for machines, whether agricultural or construction, to become dirty as they are used. The varnish is also often damaged, which – combined with working in the open air – is ideal ground for attacking the basic enemy of metal i.e. corrosion. Rusty and dirty equipment loses its value and breaks down faster. Over time, neglected items are impossible to rescue and a considerable amount money must be spent on new parts. It's better to find out in advance what sandblasting can bring us.

SANDBLASTING – WHAT IS IT?

Sandblasting is the process of cleaning the surface of all dirt and old paints simultaneously preparing it for further protection. A stream of compressed air containing sand or other hard particles (e.g. metal shot) is used here. This process resembles traditional grinding but its great advantage is the accuracy of machining. The abrasive stream is able to reach virtually everywhere, which is why it is recommended – especially if the cleaned elements have an irregular shape. Abrasive particles can wipe away any signs of corrosion.

OLD AS NEW – SO WHY IT IS WORTH DECIDING TO SANDBLAST?

Agricultural equipment such as machine harrows or chassis components is constantly exposed to harmful environmental influences due to the way it is used. Taking into consideration the economic calculation, it is definitely cheaper to subject individual elements to the sandblasting and renovation process than to buy new machines, for example – especially if the parts are no longer produced, their purchase borders on a miracle or it is simply unprofitable for the owner. The sandblasting of metal elements and subsequent painting results in a virtually new product. In addition, it’s more durable than after manual renovation and at a price much less than the cost of buying a new part.

WHAT CAN SANDBLAST?

The advantage of sandblasting is, above all, the multitude of its applications. Rims and entire car chassis can be subjected to the cleaning process. At Elplast, we deal with the sandblasting of bulky materials such as harrows for agricultural machinery, excavator buckets and smaller elements like bicycle frames. It should be remembered that after sandblasting, each surface should be additionally protected with varnish. For more information, please visit our office.
