POWDER COATING

Favourable weather is the perfect time to pull bikes out of the corners of basements and garages. It often turns out that our equipment requires a thorough servicing so that the first trips of the year are pleasant and safe. Aside from tightening the cables and pumping up the tyres, it is also worth checking the condition of the bicycle frame. The spring is the perfect time to get rid of corrosion and paint our bikes.

STEP-BY-STEP RENOVATION

Undoubtedly, the easiest way is the city bike service. Due to the lack of complicated equipment, disassembly and subsequent assembly should not pose problems – even for DIY enthusiasts. The problem may arise when we notice that the spokes or wheels are distorted. Repairing them is then worth entrusting to professionals.

When unscrewing the subsequent parts, it is worth putting them in a previously prepared place. The same applies to all nuts and bolts. If we have doubts whether or not we will remember what and where we should screw parts in/out, it is worth taking pictures during disassembly. Such photographic documentation will dispel all subsequent dilemmas.

When our bike is stripped down, you need to clean all of the elements and assess if there are any signs of rust on them. If we notice corrosion (for example) on the frame or mudguards, we should decide to paint them. We will achieve the best effect by entrusting this job to professional painters. The resulting surface will look like new and the bike will serve us for several years.

RETAIL WHEELS ROLL

Bicycle renovation is a good time to give it character. When we see that our saddle is damaged, we can either send it back to the upholsterer to cover it with new leather or simply replace it with a new one. Handlebar grips are also quickly destroyed. Replacing them should not cause any problems.

During the spring check, it is worth remembering that each bicycle must be equipped with a functioning bell, lighting and reflectors. We are able to find a wide selection of these products in virtually every store with bicycle accessories. A bicycle inspection is also a good opportunity to take care of our tyres. You need to pay special attention to whether or not they are not dry-rotted or the tread is worn out. Bad tyres almost guarantee a puncture. From time to time, you should also replace the inner tubes. Efficient and well-inflated tyres provide us with better grip when cornering and thus greater riding comfort.

DEGREE OF COMPLICATION / SATISFACTION

Working on getting our bike back into service is time-consuming and can be problematic, especially when we are restoring a trekking or mountain bike. It is then best to entrust its restoration to mechanics. However, in the case of both a mountain bike and a city bike, the varnishing should be left to professionals. At Elplast, we will help you restore the bicycle frame to its former glory. We invite you to familiarise yourself with what we have to offer.
